Week 3: Strengthening Your Core for Support

Often times, my patients dealing with disc related pain ask me if it's ok to do core exercises while healing. The answer is OF COURSE! But….starting with a non-irritating move such as the “DEAD BUG” exercise is my favorite place to start.  The reason is the spine is neither flexing or extending with the DEAD BUG which can be more comfortable in the early stages of healing.

Remember, it is not all about strength per se. Activating the muscles that surround your spine remind your brain that it is ok to move...even when healing from an injury!
